At 2am on January 11 hundreds of customers began waiting outside the East Station of Saigon in hopes of purchasing a Mai Linh bus ticket to their hometowns ahead of the Tet New Year.At 3am, when station security opened the doors, the crowd poured in, forming a long line that stretched from gate 3 to gate 2. Despite fighting through the suffocating crowd, to the point of fainting, some people were not able to purchase their tickets.
The reason for the chaos was Mai Linh’s announcement that they would open Tet tickets sales for all destinations starting today. The station was unable to handle the unexpected overflow of customers. Read More »
