A young man plays police by chasing & scaring traffic violators during heavy traffic in Hanoi

With a totally ineffective traffic police in Vietnam, it’s good to see that citizens are encouraging errant riders to obey the law. The government is paying a virtual army of lazy men to sit around all day drinking coffee instead of fulfilling their proper role as traffic police, enforcing the laws and promoting road safety. Like Stephen McGrath I also query why this story is filed under “Fun”. Let’s encourage more responsible citizens to get out there and enforce the traffic laws. Maybe it’ll shame the CSGT into action – but I doubt it.

Good on him! Fantastic initiative, and the only thing that will register in the brains of the selfish, thoughtless people who break road laws religiously in order to get ahead of others. Thing is he’d have to do it 24/7 and each motorist would need to be personally impacted at least 3 times before it would become clear to them that they were doing wrong. I’ve seen a guy on Ba Thang Hai in Saigon do this a few times, but that was over a year ago.
