Cambodian Toddler Nurses Directly From Cow
In May, a story of a two year old Indonesian boy’s cigarette addiction made international headlines. People were outraged, the YouTube video gathering almost 4 million views and 21,236 dislikes as of September 16. Perhaps the following story isn’t quite as provocative but this 18 month old Cambodian boy is also addicted to something we might find strange…

A toddler in Cambodia has been suckling milk directly from a cow ever since his mother left him to look for work in Thailand with his father.
Tha Sophat is 18-months-old, and his grandfather revealed that the little boy has been feeding himself this way since July after his parents left to find work after a storm destroyed the family home.
Um Oeung, the 46-year-old grandfather, with whom the youngster is staying, said that after he stopped breast-feeding from his mother, the boy became ill.
The boy watched a calf nurse from its mother, and began to do the same thing, feeding directly from the cow each day, and when Oeung tried to stop him by pulling him away, he would cry.
So he let the toddler continue even after his neighbours and the local officials in the village of Pheas in Siem Reap province, about 195 miles from the capital Phnom Penh, voiced their concerns about the nursing.
“They blame me and have told me not to allow him to suckle from the cow anymore. They say the boy will be ashamed when he grows up and that he will be naughty,” the Daily Mail quoted Oeung as saying.
“His health is fine, he is strong and he doesn’t have diarrhea,” Oeung added.
