Vietnam singer Vy Oanh, born as Nguyễn Mỹ Oanh on September 28, 1984, calls Phan Thiet her hometown (which is between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang).
Before her music career took off, Vy Oanh had moved to Ho Chi Minh City for her studies. Upon graduating high school, Vy Oanh had planned to study abroad. But when she found out that she was accepted to a local music academy she decided to go there instead.
She would later be discovered onstage at the Saigon Superbowl. At an open-mic karaoke event, her friend persuaded the manager to let Vy Oanh on to sing. And the rest is as they say history…
Vy Oanh’s debut Album “Tình Đùa – Trả Giá” (Play with Love – Get Hurt) opened the doors for her entry into the music industry. And unlike some other well-known local singers, Vy Oanh does not have a reputation for scandal… so far.
