In the end, the more refined and mature voice of 22-year old Uyên Linh won out against a 16-year old Mai Hương. Coming into the finals, Uyen Linh appeared to be the crowd favourite judging from blogs, tweets, and news articles online.

WOW, I was really happy like being an Idol. I don’t know why? Simply she is so amazing! Congratulation Uyen Linh and us!

Tonight is not just a dream, but it’s an emotional night [the name of Uyen Linh's gala 8 song was "Chỉ Là Giấc Mơ" (Just a Dream)]. The finale of Vietnam Idol 2010 with musician Huy Tuan’s "Cám Ơn Tình Yêu" (Thank you love) will forever be engraved in the hearts of music lovers. And we will not ever forget idol Uyen Linh. A soulful voice touched the audience’s heart. Congratulations.

Congratulations Uyen Linh. It’s just too bad that I couldn’t be in Vietnam to watch the results live but instead have to stay up at 4am to see on Youtube a finale that was absolutely exciting and moved me when I found out that my idol had won.

Thu-Giang Nguyễn:

Uyen Linh probably hasn’t come home yet or is too tired that she’s gone to bed. Either way, I’m guessing she won’t be able to sleep at all tonight. As for me, I’m still reviewing for a test, and listening to Uyen Linh’s music. I’m overjoyed so I’m not sleepy at all.
